Administrative –

Assists the Ministers in their administrative roles, interviews and hires staff, reviews and updates staff job descriptions.

Archives –

Keeps UUC history, organizes and stores copies of all UUC records.

Art –

Produces several visual art shows in the Octagon each year. Includes show opening receptions and one members' art show each year.

Cares and Concerns –

Keeps in touch with home bound members and provides assistance and support to members and families as needs arise. Assists ministers in providing pastoral care and support.

Denominational Affairs –

Provides liaison to UUA, Florida District, West Central Cluster of UU Congregations, The Pines Retreat Center, The Mountain in North Carolina and other denominational groups. Informs the congregation about issues and opportunities of note.

Finance –

Oversees the congregation's finances. Prepares the annual budget each spring.

Flowers –

Arranges for flowers to be in the sanctuary for Sunday Services.

Hospitality –

Arranges for members to prepare and serve coffee and refreshments during the social hour after Sunday Services.

Leadership Development –

Provides a training program for those interested in expanding their responsibilities within the congregation and the wider UU movement.

Long Range Planning –

Prepares and monitors the UUC Long Range Plan. Researches issues that may have long-term implications for UUC. Assists in developing goals and reports to the congregation on progress toward meeting them.

Maxwell Library –

Oversees the congregation's library. Most of the books were donated by UUC Member Bill Maxwell in honor of his daughter, Anastasia.

Membership –

Arranges for visitors to be greeted and welcomed on Sunday Mornings. Assists individuals in making the commitment to join the congregation through education, communication and personal contact. Assists members in becoming active in community life.

Memorials and Tributes –

Arranges for memorials and tributes to be placed appropriately in the congregation's facilities

Music –

Supports the congregation's Chorale and advises the Music Director.

Office –

Works with the Business Administrator to train and support volunteers who manage the UUC Office.

Personnel –

Recommends policies and administers salaries and benefits for the congregation's employees.

Planned Giving –

Educates the congregation on ways to financially support our mission and encourages gifts for this purpose. Provides information on favorable tax treatment of such gifts, legal requirements, insurance, wills and trusts.

Program Council –

A council comprised of the Chairmen of all committees who meet to coordinate activities and share information.

Property –

Maintains and repairs the congregation's buildings, equipment and grounds. We depend on volunteers to do much of the work.

Publicity –

Assists the Business Administrator in developing ads for the newspaper regarding Sunday programs. Develops press releases on major events and activities. Works to keep the congregation in the public's attention.

Religious Education (Children) –

Develops curriculum and programs, recruits teachers and others to offer an outstanding liberal religious experience for the congregation's children and their parents. Assists the Associate Minister's activities.

Religious Education (Adults) –

Conducts a range of educational programs for adults throughout the year.

Religious Services –

Works closely with the Minister to assure that the Sunday morning services provide a meaningful worship experience. Also arranges for speakers during the summer and for Sundays when the Minister is not leading the service.

Social Justice –

Arranges for our congregation to have opportunities to take action on social problems in our community and in the world. Is a partner of the local church-sponsored Religious Community Services organization that provides a food pantry, spouse abuse shelter and other services. Works to support the efforts of the UU Service Committee worldwide. Supports a Partner Church in Romania.

Social Activities –

Plans and organizes many activities throughout the year, including "Open Houses," "Circle Suppers," "Pot Luck Dinners," parties, seasonal celebrations, etc.

Stewardship –

Educates and motivates the Congregation to be good stewards of our mission. Conducts the canvass each spring to solicit annual financial pledges from members and friends of the congregation.

Tech Team (Sound/Lighting Booth) –

Provides technical support for Sunday Services and other events in the Octagon.

Ushers –

Arranges for ushers for Sunday Services to greet people, to provide assistance as needed and to take up the offertory collection during the service.

Ways and Means –

Responsible for fund raising events throughout the year.

Website Task Force –

Oversees and maintains the UUC website.

Other Groups and Activities


Bay Area Responsible Consumption Coalition (BARCC) –

Works to increase community awareness and action to protect the environment at the local, national and international levels.

UU Buddhist Fellowship of Tampa Bay –

This group is affiliated with the UUA's Buddhist Fellowship. It is sponsored by UUC and meets here on a weekly basis.

Couples Group –

A self-governing group that meets in members' homes to explore issues of interest in strengthening couple relationships.

Covenant Groups –

Under the Minister's direction, this small-group ministry program is a wonderful way for members of our congregation to better connect with each other. Groups meet on a monthly basis, usually in member homes. Groups are generally organized for geographical convenience.

Florida District of the UUA –

Ken Hurto (District Executive) coordinates the activities of UU Congregations throughout Florida.

Interweave –

Represents the interests of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender persons in our religious community and educates the congregation on issues of special concern.

Men's Group –

Provides opportunities for men to socialize and support each other through life's ups and downs. The men serve an all-church Pancake Breakfast twice a year, have a weekend retreat each year at "UU in the Pines" near Brooksville, and meet monthly for BEER (Brothers Engaging in Esoteric Repartee).

The Pines Conference Center –

"The Pines" is a retreat center located in Brooksville, FL and is affiliated with the UU Camps and Conference Centers Association. This rustic camp is in a beautiful natural setting and is available for meetings, Elder hostels, retreats, etc.

PSI Symposium –

This group meets periodically to explore aspects of para-normal and psychic experience.

SUUSI (Southeast UU Summer Institute) –

A one week gathering of UUs held in Virginia each July. It's like summer camp for adults and children - an intentional community that represents UUism at its very best.

Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) –

William Sinkford (President) provides organizational support for UU congregations throughout North America. Each year the General Assembly of the UUA, with several thousand representatives from the 1000 UU congregations in the UUA, is held in various locations around the continent.

UU Bridge –

A group of UUs and others who like to play bridge each week.

UU Women's Group –

This group organizes opportunities for UUC women to participate in "fun" activities and work to support its mission WINE (Women in Nurturing Environments). This group coordinates the Rummage and Bake Sales and other activities throughout the year.

West Central Cluster –

A non-profit organization dedicated to stimulate and strengthen Unitarian Universalism in West Central Florida, promote communication and closer ties among the congregations in West Central Florida, and to encourage support for the UU Florida District, the Unitarian Universalist Association and affiliate organizations. Includes 10 congregations in Citrus, Hernando, Hillsborough, Pasco, Pinellas and Polk counties.
